Ettore Cacchetti - Manchester's best Maître d'

At last I got to deliver Ettore's portrait. It has been a long wait because of Covid 19 restrictions over the last few months and it was exciting to see his reaction when he opened up the packaging to see his portrait for the first time. He was so pleased and I was relieved as its always a tense moment when a portrait is unveiled.

Ettore is an energetic, 'hands-on' Maitre d' who makes Manchesters Piccolino Cafe Grande the most successful, vibrant, happening place to be in the city. I wanted to catch his energy in the portrait; he rarely stands still so I was inspired to put movement into the portrait. I did this by blurring the background and introduced movement into his hands.

My portraits always begin with the face, once this is completed I work on hands and in this instance, pastels are a messy medium, but I love them... because his jacket is dark blue (a very messy colour), I worked on the background, coming back to the jacket at the end. I hope you like the finished portrait.
